Cultural Contact Point Seminar on Project Development held in April
On Wednesday 20 April, at Villa Madama in Balzan, the Culture Contact Point held Keys to CULTURE - Developing Cooperation Projects for the CULTURE Programme.
Speakers included Katharina Riediger, Katerina Xethali and Tatiana Niskacova of the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) and Ipek M. Sur of the 7 Hills Foundation (Amsterdam).

Moving away from the unilateral model typical of many funding-related events, the Cultural Contact Point tried to keep Keys to CULTURE as interactive and hands-on as possible.
The morning started with an open discussion led by Katharina Riediger and Katerina Xethali from the EACEA and moderated by Lisa Gwen from the Times of Malta. Participants had the opportunity to get suggestions on how to prepare a successful project directly by the people actually managing the Culture Programme, which is not something happening everyday.

The morning session was closed by Ipek Sur, who shared her own direct experience and her tips on the steps to follow for preparing a valid cultural project and on how to maximise from EU available funds.
The height of the event came in the afternoon, when participants were asked, following the instructions provided by the CCP in a previous briefing session, to pitch in public their project proposals. This experience has proved particularly constructive, since each presentation was followed by a direct feedback by the EACEA staff, Ipek Sur, and other experts attending.
The pitched project ideas were many and diverse, each at its own stage of development, but all with the potential for further development and eventual success. The Cultural Contact Point is now looking forward to follow-up these proposals and assist them along the way to the submission under the Culture Programme in view of the deadline of 5 October 2011.
CCP Gozo information session
The Cultural Contact Point (Malta) has just participated in two information days about funding opportunities for the cultural sector which were held in the island of Gozo. CCP (Malta) was also one of the main co-organisers of the event. A similar event will be held on May 30th and 31st for interested individuals, commercial and voluntary organisations and other interested parties.
The information days brought together a number of public entities in a bid to provide coherent information primarily about the funding opportunities currently available for Maltese and Gozitan cultural operators but also on best practices and on the tools available to operators for developing projects and funding proposals. Members of various entities, including Glen Calleja from CCP (Malta), were available on both days to offer guidance to potential beneficiaries of the Culture Programme and other funding schemes.
Schemes presented during the information days included the following; CULTURE Programme, KREATTIV, Culture Card, Malta Arts Fund, JEREMIE, CRE8, INVEX, MEDIA programme, President's Awards, Film Fund and the Funds for Cultural Events for Local Councils.
